To say I am surprised would be a lie but at the same time it comes as a bit of confusion, Tidal has hired a new CEO, Richard Sanders. With that being said Mr. Sanders is now the fourth CEO to grace the top of the totem in the last 2 years. Are things in a state of crisis for JAY-Z’s streaming service? While his 4:44 album is surely bringing in the proper subscriptions it would have expected. But when you go face to face with competitors, Spotify and Apple Music, things aren’t really panning out.
Richard Sanders has a prestigious background in the music industry so his expertise could serve as a valuable asset for Tidal as they look to continue to grow. Sanders’ experience features a stint with Sony Music as a global marketing President, Executive at Arista and RCA records. Not too shabby.
Personally, I am an avid user of the service, I have no strifes. Well when there wasn’t a distinctive shuffle feature but other than that, Tidal has been very good to me.
Adding Sanders can be on to be something special nonetheless so we will have to wait and see. Considering Sprint buying $200 Million worth of stake in the company, a new interface update for the mobile app, things can only look up from here.
