The Philadelphia 76ers and fans supporting the team are all drooling over Jahlil Okafor. Which is expected, every player with a decent worth is usually traded off in a year or so. So get your fill Philly fans, in 2-3 years he’ll be traded for Draft picks, you just wait and see.
But they have a player that they don’t have a chance to trade yet. Dario Saric. For years they have been trying to get him out of Turkey and into the US, but it’s never been sorted. And now Saric has spoken up, saying that he wanted to go to Philly.
“Saric told people he wanted to join Philadelphia now, but couldn’t because his contract had no out-clause,” a source told Basketball Insiders.
I asked Saric for his thoughts about moving to the U.S. and the situation with his Turkish club.
“It’s really hard for me to answer that,” Saric said. “I can’t comment.”
“I think I’m ready to compete in the NBA, against the best players, but we built a great team in Efes and I want to help the club win a championship.”
I’ve seen tape of Saric and honestly I’m surprised that he is still in Europe. Efes are pretty much holding him hostage for a year which is unfortunate. The Sixers will just have to wait until 2016 to get him.
And then trade him for Draft picks.
