Ryan Coogler and company will deliver the sequel to Black Panther in November. Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Winston Duke, Letitia Wright and Angela Bassett will return for the second film, but one of their original co-stars will not. On July 13, Jacqueline Coley of Rotten Tomatoes revealed that actor Daniel Kaluuya will not reprise his role as W’Kabi in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Kaluuya was reportedly unable to return for the upcoming Marvel film because he had already committed to a role in Jordan Peele’s upcoming film, Nope. Unfortunately, the hectic production schedules of the high-profile films made it nearly impossible for him to appear in both. At this time, it is unclear if another actor was cast to play W’Kabi.
Kaluuya’s next film, Nope, is set to debut in theaters next week. The Black Panther star will appear alongside Keke Palmer and Steve Yeun in what Peele calls “a ride.”
“This film is definitely a ride. The title speaks to the idea of being in tune with what the audience is thinking and feeling in the theater,” Peele told Entertainment Weekly in April.
“I know a lot of people who say, when it’s a scary movie, they say, ‘Nope!’ Especially Black audiences, right? We love horror but there’s a skepticism.”
