Marvel’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will resume production with actress Letitia Wright. The star actress will rejoin Ryan Cooler, Lupita Nyong’o, Winston Duke and others in Atlanta, Georgia next week as Ryan Cooler and company wrap up production.
Wright has made her way in to headlines more than a few times within the last year. Nearly two years ago, she posted a link to a YouTube video questioning the safety of vaccines.
“I don’t understand vaccines medically, but I’ve always been a little bit of a skeptic of them,” Tomi Arayomi said during the video.
After fans criticized her decision to repost the video, Wright claimed that she was “cancelled.”
“If you don’t conform to popular opinions, but ask questions and think for yourself….you get cancelled,” she tweeted.
Wright’s critiques of the COVID-19 vaccine continued to come into play when the CDC implemented rules requiring all non-immigrant, non-citizen air travelers to the U.S. to be fully vaccinated. While those close to Wright, a British citizen, have not commented on her vaccination status publicly, The Hollywood Reporter has indicated that those issues have been “resolved.”
More recently, Wright ran into issues when she suffered an injury while filming in Boston. As a result, production shut down in November as they waited for Wright to heal.
“She always intended to return but just needed to wait until she had fully recovered,” Wright’s agent told THR.
In the midst of all that has happened, the release of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever was pushed back to November 11, 2022. Also, actor Winston Duke reportedly negotiated a “hefty raise” for his return. THR also reports that Duke’s character, M’Baku, will have an “expanded role in the Panther mythos.”
