This season, Quinn went back to a coordinator role after six years as the Atlanta Falcons Head Coach. The Cowboys’ defense went from 28th from last season to 7th in points allowed. They also lead the league with 34 turnovers forced and were top-7 in touchdowns allowed.
Under Quinn’s management, several players shined like Trevon Diggs, who led the league with 11 interceptions, rookie Micah Parsons posted 84 tackles and 13 sacks and Gregory Nelson matched his career-high of six sacks in 12 games played this season.
Due to his success in Dallas, he was a candidate in almost every head coaching vacancy once the Cowboys’ season finished but he decided to stay and keep building on the work from his first year with the team.
