Lindsey Shockley is beginning to wrap up her final season as the show runner of the longstanding sitcom, Black-ish. As the series comes to a close after a successful run, it appears that she has found her next project. The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Shockley is working with Damon Wayans Jr. on a reboot of the The Honeymooners for CBS. Early reports indicate that the series is a “a bold, female-driven reboot.”
“[The series will follow] new wife, Ruth, and her husband, Alex, who are determined to have a marriage where they are true equals in every way. But what happens when a marriage has two heads of the household? Are they co-heads? Or no head at all?” THR adds.
Kameron Tarlow of Hot In Cleveland will serve as an executive producer while Kelly Park directs. No casting decisions have been shared with the the public as of yet.
This is not the first time that The Honeymooners has been revitalized for a modern audience. In 2005, Paramount Pictures developed a film by the same name with Cedric The Entertainer, Mike Epps, Gabrielle Union and Regina Hall. More recently, CBS tried to develop a reboot with writer Bob Kushell, but the project failed before airing.
