It has been about four days since the scary hit and collapse that hospitalized Buffalo Bills’ safety, Damar Hamlin. He is still in the hospital recovering from the cardiac arrest he suffered on the field during Monday Night Football. Doctors have provided some promising updates on his recovery. Hamlin is now awake and showing what his doctor’s called “substantial improvement”. He can also move his hands and feet and communicate by writing. The hope for his doctors, family, and friends is that he will continue to improve as time progresses.
This is amazing: For the first time, #Bills S Damar Hamlin is addressing the team via Facetime. The breathing tube is out, and he’s spent the morning speaking to various teammates on Facetime. Now, he’s delivering a message to the entire group, I’m told.

The Monday Night Football game between the Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals was postponed and days later declared a no-contest. Focus from the Bills and the NFL has been completely on the recovery of Damar Hamlin at this time. After waking up, Hamlin asked who won the game on Monday night and doctors reportedly responded with: “The answer is yes, Damar, you won. You won the game of life”.
Further comments from the medical staff included the following statement: “When we talk about neurologically intact, it’s a very gross term of big motor movements and following commands. When we talk about the finer things that make us human — cognition, emotion, speech, language, etc. — we’re looking forward to learning more about that soon.”
We here at Def Pen Sports wish for the best in Damar Hamlin’s recovery and he and his family are in our thoughts.
