The Minnesota Vikings are expected to release running back Dalvin Cook if they can not find a trade for him this week. Despite his productive level of play, the Vikings have been rumored to be looking to move on from the running back for at least two seasons now. While some injuries have slowed him down, he is still relatively young and hungry to produce in the NFL. There should be plenty of teams interested in the multi-purpose running back for at least next season. Cook should still have plenty to give an NFL team.
The Miami Dolphins and Denver Broncos are two of the teams that are expected to have an interest in signing running back Dalvin Cook once he officially is released, per sources. There likely will be others, but those two have been monitoring Cook for weeks.

This past season with the Minnesota Vikings, Dalvin Cook rushed the ball 264 times for 1,173 yards and eight touchdowns. He also caught 39 passes for 295 yards and two receiving touchdowns. Cook is still one of the best running backs in the NFL and his release could impact the 2023 NFL Playoff race depending on which team he decides to sign with this offseason. Plenty of teams will likely reach out to the talented running back.
This seems to be a growing trend in the NFL with teams trying to pull back on paying even the best running backs in the league. Franchise tags, trades, and releases are becoming more common for running backs that expect to get high-paying long-term deals from their teams. Dalvin Cook will be looking to maximize the money in his new deal with his new team next season.
