With apologies to Derrick Rose, it’s time to declare that without a doubt that the New York Knicks are officially not a Super Team. They’re not even really close to being a playoff team. The Knicks sit at 12th in the Eastern Conference with a record of 22-31. Fans probably thought that they might pick up a win at home vs. the lowly Los Angeles Lakers, but Knicks gonna Knick; the Lakers won 121-107 for their first win at Madison Square Garden in six years. Knicks shooting guard Courtney Lee told Mike Vorkunov that he feels that the Knicks’ performance was so horrendous that fans deserve an apology:
“Last night, that effort was pretty bad. We definitely gotta apologize to the fans and everybody that spent their hard-earned money to come watch us play. We definitely didn’t show up and compete at a level that we need to compete at to win the games, especially in the situation where we’re in right now and where we’re trying to go.”
On the bright side, Lee says that today’s practice went well:
“Today was much-needed. We got after it today. Guys just pushing each other. That’s what we needed.”
