Nike LeBron X – “Cutting Jade”
A Chinese proverb states, “There is a price for gold, but no price for jade.” In Chinese culture, jade is a symbol of immortality, representing five aspirational virtues: charity, modesty, courage, justice and wisdom. Given the stone’s precious value and significance, it is used ceremoniously in ornaments and decorations for blessings of both protection and prosperity. This is fitting, seeing as jade’s beauty is only surpassed by its durability. Jade can’t be cut with ordinary tools. It’s harder than steel. For centuries, slabs have been cut by a manual saw, adorned with one of the few harder substances than jade: diamonds. This, of course, served as inspiration for the ‘Cutting Jade’ LeBron X.
