Prior to becoming a Grammy-nominated artist, Cordae was a college student working at TGI Friday’s in Maryland. Millions of dollars and a few projects later, he’s returned to the service industry at Hi-Level Diner the “Chronicles” video. The visual component of this guitar-laden track places the Maryland native at the diner as he tries to get in good with one of his co-workers. While there, he runs into H.E.R who runs into (no pun intended) her troubled boyfriend. Meanwhile, Chicago’s Lil’ Durk is chillin’ in the parking lot.
Originally performed on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, “Chronicles” stands out as one of the most heartfelt and emotive songs from Cordae’s sophomore album. Not to mention, the track pushes the Grammy nominated act to really test out his vocal range as he sings side by side with a vocalist like H.E.R.
It comes as no surprise that H.E.R and Cordae meshed well together on the track given their track record. The duo came together for a performance at the 2019 BET Awards as well as “Racks” from I Used To Know HER. This time around, they added in Lil’ Durk who blends in seamlessly.
The release of Cordae’s “Chronicles” and “Today” videos sets the stage for the From A Bird’s Eye View tour. Things kick off on February 3, 2022 in Dallas, Texas before he ventures off to Nashville, Philadelphia, Toronto, New York and several other cities across North America.
