
Before the ball dropped at midnight, Conor McGregor hopped on X, formerly known as Twitter, to share some news regarding his next fight. According to the former UFC Lightweight Champion, he will return to the octagon for a match with Michael Chandler on June 29, 2023 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
“I’d like to announce the return date for myself, ‘Notorious’ Conor McGregor,” McGregor said, according to ESPN.
“The greatest comeback of all time will take place in Las Vegas, International Fight Week of June 29. The opponent, Michael Chandler — and the weight, Mr. Chandler, 185 pounds.”
UFC Chief Executive Officer Dana White nor Michael Chandler have confirmed the information put forth by McGregor via X, formerly known as Twitter.
McGregor last participated in a UFC sanctioned match on July 10, 2021. Dustin Poirier stopped McGregor after one round due to a leg injury. Since then, he purchased a second pub in Ireland and reportedly secured a deal to appear in a remake of Road House. Additionally, he was accused of forcing himself on a woman in a bathroom at Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida last June. However, no criminal charges were filed against McGregor.
