Connie Diiamond is the latest artist to put their spin on the infectious Sexy Drill sound that has captivated the city of New York. Alongside Sexy Drill songwriter Vontee The Singer, the Bronx native blends Jodeci’s classic track “Come & Talk to Me” with her distinct blend of gritty lyricism to craft a summer anthem called “Jodeci” that boldly announces her entrance into the Sexy Drill scene. Vontee The Singer plays off of word play effortlessly, adding his infectious, auto tuned vocals to the three-minute track.
“Jodeci” is the latest step in Connie Diiamond’s journey to the top of New York’s iconic Hip-Hop scene and beyond. The Bronx-based rapper has delivered collaborations with everyone from Don Q to Damian Lillard of the Milwaukee Bucks, picking Issa Rae’s Raedio and Gabe P’s On The Radar. More recently, she has tapped in with fellow New York MC Remy Ma. Months after releasing the official remix to her single, “Ghetto & Ratchet” with Remy Ma, the two performed the single at the 2024 BET Awards.
“Jodeci” is yet another example of the dominating presence of New York’s female MCs. Not only has Connie Diiamond made her presence felt, but the city has also produced rising talents like Ice Spice, Lola Brooke, Young Devyn, Maiya The Don and Kenzo B. Meanwhile, Cardi B, Nicki Minaj and Remy Ma has continue to feed their fan bases, paving the way for another generation to do the same.
