The self-proclaimed saddest girl in Harlem has found love and she’s ready to sing about it.
On Friday, July 26, Journey Montana delivered her latest single, “You,” a slow-burning, emotive ode to her newfound love. Filled to the brim with intense passion of a Scorpio songwriter, the Harlem native transforms a fiery romance into a melody that slowly builds and builds until it crescendoes as the chorus. While in love, she remains clear and decisive about what she wants — you.
“You found me. I was alone, [but] you found me. [You] gave me a home [and you] saved me. You gave me hope. I love you,” Journey Montana sings.
“You” paves the way for Journey Montana’s forthcoming album, Eclipse, executive produced by DJ Camper.
“For so long, [it was about] the ‘sad thing’ and worrying about and writing about what this person was doing, what this person was saying and how it made me feel. It was very outward. Now, I’m kind of just left with myself and how I feel. It’s a little bit more internal,” she told We Need To Talk‘s Nyla Symone about the writing process for her new album, Where Did The Sun Go?
