Brandon Massey was one of the top prospects in the Class of 2019. Now he is headed to Western Kentucky as a member of the 2018 class—meaning that he will be eligible to play this upcoming season.
Top five recruit Charles Bassey has committed to Western Kentucky and will reclassify to the 2018 class, a source tells @247Sports.

Bassey is a phenomenal down-low prospect at 6’10” 220 lbs. He is originally from Nigeria where his father was a national team player; he moved to the states at the age of 14 and played high school ball in Louisville last season.
Rick Stansbury’s Hilltoppers came within 2 points of making the NCAA Tournament last season and are returning Taveion Hollingsworth (13.3 ppg) and Lamonte Bearden (11.8 ppg) from last year’s team along with an incoming transfer in Auburn’s Desean Murray.
This isn’t the first time Western Kentucky has landed a high-level center recruit like this, in fact it just happened last year when Mitchell Robinson committed there. Unfortunately, Robinson had a falling out and completely abandoned the program before the season began; the details of which were never revealed to the public.
For the sake of Western Kentucky and college basketball fans, we hope that Bassey’s collegiate career is much longer than that.
