You have to be careful of what you wish. After pointing out the quarterback play as the difference between the Commanders and the rest of the NFC East division Ron Rivera just lost his starting quarterback for the next four weeks. Carson Wentz will undergo surgery to repair a fractured finger on his right hand on Monday, according to Ian Rapoport from NFL Network.

Wentz injured his finger during the Commanders’ win over the Chicago Bears on Thursday Night. He hit the arm of Bears defensive lineman Justin Jones at the end of the second quarter and was seen shaking the hand after that play. However, he stayed in the game to secure the victory for the team.
With Wentz sidelined for that much time, we are going to see Taylor Heinicke back on the field as the starter and Sam Howell, the fifth-round draft pick, is expected to serve as the backup.
In his first season in Washington, Wentz has completed 144 passes for 1489 passing yards and 10 touchdowns, as well as 6 interceptions.
In the coming weeks, the Commanders with a 2-4 record are set to face the Packers (Week 7), Colts (Week 8), Vikings (Week 9), and Eagles (Week 10).
