Byron Scott Hasn’t Heard From Steve Nash
The Lakers ruled out veteran point guard Steve Nash for the season right before it started. Nash was reported to have re-aggravated the nerve issues in his back while carrying his bags. His back injuries kept him out for most of last season. The latest report is that the Lakers are now looking to shop Nash’s contract, which will be incredibly difficult, but timing and circumstance make this a little interesting.
Apparently the Lakers management and coach Byron Scott expected Nash to stick around the team this season, which he hasn’t, as a mentor and semi-coach. Beto Duran of ESPN Radio in LA says Scott has not heard from Nash,
Byron Scott called Steve Nash but hasn’t received a return call. Does he expect to see Nash around team? (Scott) “Don’t know. I’d like to.”
Nash could just be out playing soccer or street hockey somewhere, but perhaps there is a disconnect between the Lakers and Nash if he’s not in contact with anyone in the organization that’s still paying him.
