The Miami Dolphins have placed cornerback Byron Jones on the reserve/PUP list. This means he will miss at least the first four games of the 2022-23 NFL season. The initial hope from the team was that he’d be ready to play in the season opener, but those hopes were dashed as the preseason progressed. Teams have until four p.m. on Tuesday to cut their rosters to 53 men and players on the reserve/PUP list do not count against that total until they are activated. The Dolphins will have to play at least four games without one of their starting defensive backs.
The #Dolphins moved starting CB Byron Jones to the reserve/PUP list, so he’s out the first four games.

Last season as a member of the Miami Dolphins, Byron Jones recorded 47 solo tackles, 58 total tackles, one forced fumble, and ten passed defended. He is considered a talented starting defensive back in the NFL but has had several injuries in his career with both the Miami Dolphins and Dallas Cowboys. Despite those injuries, he has missed very little time in his NFL career, and these four games will be the most time he’s missed in a row in his NFL career. Hopefully, he returns healthy and back to form in the team’s fifth game this season.
So Byron Jones – whose ankle/Achilles surgery was supposed to have him back by July – now out first 4 games. McDaniel is surprised; he has said he was optimistic about start of season. So Xavien, Needham, Noah, Crossen and Kohou are your CBs.

The Miami Dolphins are looking to make the 2022-23 NFL Playoffs this season. With the defense poised to be great and the offense poised to be better that could happen. That being said the team is better with Byron Jones on the field and they will need him back.
