The world was different when Buddy delivered his debut studio album, Harlan & Alondra. Kendrick Lamar had just curated the Black Panther soundtrack, Pusha T and Drake were still in the midst of their back and forth and Pop Smoke was just beginning to experiment with music in New York. Four years later, a lot has changed, but Buddy’s unique, laid back style remains the same. Fresh off of the release of his latest collaboration with BLXST, the California native has returned four years after the release of Harland & Alondra to drop his second studio album, Superghetto.
Buddy’s latest studio effort is not lacking in star power. Standing alongside the rising star, T-Pain, BLXST, Ari Lennox and Tinashe appear on the 10-track project. Not to mention, Buddy rides solo on the follow-up to his breakout single, “Black.” Without giving too much away, Superghetto is the maturation of an artist who has found his footing and carved out his own lane in the realm of Hip-Hop, R&B and beyond.
