For the upcoming season, Hooper was one of the Browns’ highest-paid players with a $13.25 million salary. By releasing with post-June1 designation, the team saves $9.5 million in cap space. He joins WR Jarvis Landry and C JC Tretter as the other two players that have been released by the team since the start of free agency.
The third-round pick from the 2016 NFL Draft enjoyed a lot of success in his time with the Atlanta Falcons, earning two selections to the Pro-Bowl, and decided to sign with the Browns when he was a free agent. In Cleveland, he joined David Njoku to be the two-man duo at the tight end position for the team.
Hooper recorded a total of 780 receiving yards and 7 touchdowns in 29 games played.
