Former Miami Dolphins Head Coach Brian Flores has been named the next defensive coordinator for the Minnesota Vikings. This past season Flores has served as a senior defensive assistant and linebackers coach for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Flores began a class action lawsuit against the NFL and several NFL teams for racial discrimination after he was fired by the Miami Dolphins. He accused teams of willfully violating the NFL’s Rooney Rule and also accused the Dolphins of trying to pay him to intentionally lose games and violate NFL tampering rules.

As the Head Coach of the Miami Dolphins, Brian Flores led the team to an overall record of 24-25 in three seasons. The team did not make the NFL Playoffs in those three seasons. Notably the last two seasons with Flores as the Head Coach the team did finish with winning records. His lawsuit against the NFL is still active and will continue to play out in the legal system. Flores takes over a Minnesota Vikings defense that needs to improve this upcoming season. The Vikings fired defensive coordinator Ed Donatell after just one season with the franchise. Flores will bring a different scheme with him that has done well in the NFL in the past.
