New York Giants Wide receiver Brandon Marshall will have season-ending ankle surgery, he announced on his Instagram Monday night.
Marshall is currently the third Giants WR to go down for the season with a leg or foot injury. Odell Beckham Jr and Dwayne Harris both have gone down to the season with ankle and foot injuries.
The veteran wide-out was hurt when he landed awkwardly on a play down the sideline. This was on the same drive that Sterling Shepard was injured in the second quarter of the Giants lose to the Chargers.
The Giants had high hopes for the vet when they signed him to a two-year $11 million deal as a free agent. Those hopes were never really fulfilled as he only caught 18 balls for 154 yards in his five games.
Marshall never seemed to get comfortable on his new team, partially because he never developed chemistry with his QB during camp due to a shoulder injury.
After a couple weeks full of drops Marshall aired his own frustrations out “Just not playing well right now,” he said. “I haven’t played a solid game since I’ve been here.” Will Marshall have what it takes to bounce back for year 13?
The Giants are 0-5 this season.
