‘Spider-Man: Homecoming‘ dominated the weekend box office by bringing in an estimated $117 million. The release marks Spidey’s 2nd best opening weekend ever. Falling significantly short of ‘Spider-Man 3’s’ opening weekend haul of over $150 million. Spidey also crushed it overseas by bringing in another $140 million internationally. ‘Despicable Me 3’ came in second place and added another $33 million to its overall haul. The film dropped about 50% from week to week which is well within expectations for the film. ‘Baby Driver’ however had a much more modest drop of only 34% on the week. With positive word of mouth buoying the film to a third place finish and bringing in another $12 million in the process. ‘Wonder Woman‘ took the fourth spot this weekend by adding another $10 million to its total. Warner Bros cash cow has now raked in over $745 million worldwide. ‘Transformers: The Last Knight’ rounds out the Top 5 by adding an additional $6 million.
