Earlier this week, it was announced that Clippers stars Blake Griffin and Chris Paul will miss the remainder of the season. Now, it seems Blake Griffin will miss the Rio Olympics this summer as well for Team USA basketball.
According to the Los Angeles Times’ Ben Bolch:
Olympics are out for Blake Griffin because he’ll be unable to engage in basketball activities for several months.

This means that Blake Griffin is set to miss the majority of the summer of basketball and will be out until training camp for the Clippers. Griffin joins Anthony Davis as another Power Forward who was declared not available for the Olympics this summer for USA. His teammate Chris Paul, on the other hand, will be re-evaluated soon, to see if he can join his friend’s LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony and Dwyane Wade this summer in Rio.
Out of the 30 Team USA finalists, Kevin Love, LaMarcus Aldridge, Draymond Green, and Kenneth Faried are power forwards. I would assume to see 3 of those forwards making it to the team. Kevin Love having the most international basketball experience along with Kenneth Faried. Right now, the Clippers are focused on trying to tie up a series tonight against the Portland Trail Blazers without their 2 stars, but Rio is around the corner, and you have to wonder what is inside Chris Paul and Blake Griffin’s head right now.
