Bill Self went to the hospital on March 8th complaining of tightness in his chest. After that he underwent a procedure and had two stents placed in his heart. Self has expressed his desire to rejoin the team, but has to recovery fully before he can do that. Assistant Coach Norm Roberts will coach the team for the games that Self is unable to. Roberts provided an update on Self ahead of the game: “He’s doing well today. He was at practice today, he was at practice last night and all of our meetings. He’s doing well, he’s getting better all the time. We’re hopeful and everything is day-to-day with him, but if you ask our guys he got after them pretty good today so he was doing really well.”
The Kansas Jayhawks will play the 16 seeded Howard Bison on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. EST. The team’s next game would be on Saturday if they win.
