The Texas Longhorns got good news this week with the announcement that forward Timmy Allen will be available for the 2023 NCAA Tournament. He missed the 2023 Big 12 Tournament, but is now healthy and can play. Despite being without Allen, the Longhorns won the 2023 Big 12 Tournament Championship. Interim Head Coach Rodney Terry said Allen’s lower leg is good to go and the forward is “full tilt” for the first round. The two-seed Texas Longhorns play the 15-seed Colgate Raiders in the first round on Thursday at 7:25 p.m. EST. Texas will be at full strength for the 2023 NCAA Tournament.

This season with the Texas Longhorns, Timmy Allen is averaging 10.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game. He has paired those numbers with a field goal percentage of 48.2 percent and a three-point percentage of 11.1 percent. Allen returned to college basketball this season for his COVID-year of eligibility with the goal of winning a National Championship. Texas was considered a serious title contender entering the season and despite the adversity with former Head Coach Chris Beard, they earned a two-seed. Despite being a 15-seed, Colgate is deep and experienced and will not be an easy out on Thursday for the Longhorns.
