Ben Simmons is one of the most hyped prospects in recent years. The Philadelphia 76ers first overall pick has been billed as the next big thing. Compared to LeBron James multiple times, expectations for the LSU product are high.
It appears that Simmons is ready to cash in on the hype with a new documentary. Airing on Showtime, “One & Done” will follow Simmons’ journey from Australia to LSU to the NBA. It will premiere on October 21st.
Simmons has one of the more unique journeys among NBA players. He was born in Australia where his father played professional basketball for 13 seasons. His family was friends with Brett Brown who will now coach Simmons with the Sixers.
Simmons’ one year at LSU was also unique. Despite being a highly-touted recruit, the forward chose to go to a school not very well known for basketball. He put up fantastic numbers while carrying the team but did not have much success with the group as a whole.
Ben Simmons is now in the NBA and under immense pressure to become a very good player. He has been compared to all-time greats and considered the savior for a Sixers squad desperately in need of a star. Whether he reaches that ceiling is a question that cannot be answered right now.
But the rookie seems confident in his abilities as showcased by his documentary “One & Done” this early in his career.
