Underwhelming is a nice way to describe the 2017 NBA Slam Dunk Contest. To put it frankly, it was bad. Now there was some great moment sprinkled in, including a pair of 50’s from Derrick Jones Jr and the final dunk from Glenn Robinson III crowning him the champ but overall, it was bad.
From Aaron Gordon having technical difficulties with his drone to DeAndre Jordan just not providing excitement, Derrick Jones Jr not being the creative dunker we all thought he would be. It was just miss after miss after miss, and the hype following the thrilling 2016 dunk contest just wasn’t there.
So while everyone was making corny jokes about the contest on the internet, Charles Barkley, Kevin Garnett and Jason ‘White Chocolate’ Williams were doing a Facebook live session for KG Area 21. And the trio of legends did not hold back. Check out the legendary NBA players roasted Adam Silver and the Dunk contest participants including little-known rookie dunker Derrick Jones Jr, who caught the worst of it from KG and the crew.
