Even the greatest parties have to come to an end.
After two seasons, Apple TV+ has ended its Tiffany Haddish-led series, The Afterparty. Series creator Chris Miller had hoped to bring the show around for a third season, but it has become the latest casualty of the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike.
“We would love to do a Season 3, not only because we have lots of great ideas, but also because that would mean that the AMPTP would have given a fair deal to the writers and we could all be back to work,” Miller told Variety.
The two-part anthology series set Tiffany Haddish, Sam Richardson and Zoë Chao as leads looking to solve mysteries. Across two seasons, the show earned six nominations at the Hollywood Critics Association TV Awards.
“Detective Danner returns to help Aniq and Zoë solve the whodunnit by questioning family members, star-crossed lovers and business partners, and hearing each suspect’s retelling of the weekend, each with their own unique perspective and visual style,” the show’s logline reads.
Despite the cancellation, both seasons of The Afterparty remain available on Apple TV+.
