WBC, IBO and WBO Featherweight Champion Amanda Serrano is set to return to the ring on September 24, 2022. Serrano will challenge Sarah Mahfoud for the IBF and Ring Magazine featherweight titles in a 10-round bout at AO Arena in Manchester, England.
“I am so excited over the prospect of fighting in the UK,” Serrano said, according a press release obtained by Bad Left Hook.
“It has been on my to-do list for a long time, with the amazing fans who really get behind the sport, as well as the huge growth in women’s boxing.”
Serrano is looking to bounce back after suffering a controversial decision loss against Katie Taylor at Madison Square Garden in April. She was originally set to fight Brenda Carabajal earlier this month, but the event was canceled after Hasim Rahman Jr. and Jake Paul had a dispute regarding weight for the main event.
On the other end of the ring, Mahfoud has picked up a victory against Carabajal while compiling a record of 11-0 with three knockouts. She picked up the IBF Featherweight Champion last April by beating Nina Meinke by unanimous decision. Serrano is Mahfoud’s thought opponent yet and it will mark the first time that she has fought outside of her home country of Denmark.
“This is an amazing opportunity for me to fight for four world title belts against one of the biggest stars in the sport of boxing,” Mahfoud said.
“It will be an experience like no other to win three more belts in England and then take them all home to Denmark.”
