As rumors surrounding Anthony Davis and his future with the New Orleans Pelicans continue to gain traction, a number of teams have been pinned as possible trade destinations.
However, the belief within the Pelicans organization can’t differ more from the recent speculation. According to head coach Alvin Gentry, New Orleans has no interest in trading away their 25-year-old franchise centerpiece. Following from NBA.com’s Steve Aschburner.
Pelicans coach Alvin Gentry was clear tonight on speculation on his star's future: "We’re not trading him. I can say that to the world. We’re not gonna trade him, no matter what. That’s not an option. It doesn’t matter what anybody says or does. We’re not trading Anthony Davis."

Even with plenty of attention directed towards Anthony Davis and the Pels, it seems the two sides have a mutual understanding about what lies ahead. Davis has said on multiple occasions in the past that he is content in New Orleans and hasn’t considered leaving the franchise anytime soon.
However, the interest in a talent as extraordinary as Davis will always be there, especially among contending teams. The Celtics have been linked to Davis for years now, and the Kentucky product signing with the LeBron James-linked Klutch Sports Agency earlier this year only added intrigue towards a possible union with the Lakers.
Davis isn’t scheduled to be a free agent until the summer of 2020, though the Pelicans could extend their big man this coming offseason. Though his departure from New Orleans this season is highly unlikely, his future remains one to monitor despite both sides appearing to be on the same page.
