I’ll take “The Best News I’ve Read All Week” for $800, Alex.
Longtime Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek has returned to work, according to CNN, as the show prepares for its upcoming 36th season. Trebek made the announcement Friday in a promo for the show’s new season.
Check it out below:
Fans were shocked earlier this year when the host announced that he was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. He was able to finish filming the 35th season of the long-running game show but his future seemed in question to many fans. Usually, stage 4 cancers cannot be cured, only treated, and stage 4 pancreatic cancer has a five-year survival rate of just 9%.
However, a very welcome update from earlier this summer revealed that his body was responding well to treatment. Trebek is expected to continue hosting as long as possible and it’s worth mentioning that he is still contracted through 2022. He actually joked early on that he has to beat this so he can fulfill that contract.
Jeopardy! season 36 premieres September 9th on CBS.
