Adult Swim is planning to revive the animated series, Tuca & Bertie, after it was cancelled by Netflix last year. The original series was a favorite amongst the public and earned a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Unfortunately, Netflix hinted that it would be cancelled alongside series like Designated Survivor because of a lack of viewership.
“Netflix is not ordering a second season of Tuca & Bertie,” show creator Lina Hanawalt tweeted.
Nearly a year later, Hanawalt is back in business with her animated series. It is unclear if Tiffany Haddish and Ali Wong will return for the renewal. The first season also featured guest stars such as Jermaine Fowler, Tessa Thompson and Reggie Watts.
“I’ve been a fan of Adult Swim shows since my teens, so I’m thrilled to bring my beloved fowl to the party and be a new voice for a fresh decade of absurd, irreverent, yet heartwarming adult animation,” Hanawalt stated.
There is no word on when Tuca & Bertie will return to production.
