A Different World is headed to Netflix!
Beginning Friday, February 7, 2025, subscribers of the streaming service will be able to follow the lives of Hillman College students from season one through season six. Previously, the classic sitcom spent time with Max and Prime Video before finding its latest home.
“A Different World begins by following Denise (Lisa Bonet), the second eldest of The Cosby Show’s Huxtable family, as she heads off to attend the fictional HBCU Hillman College. Though Bonet departed after the first season, the series continued, focusing on the lives and experiences of a diverse ensemble of undergraduate students figuring out who they are within a complex and rapidly changing world,” Netflix said of the show’s premise.
A Different World remains one of the most culturally impactful and successful shows of the modern era, introducing classic characters like Dwayne Wayne (Kadeem Hardison) and Whitley Gilbert (Jasmine Guy) while featuring cameos from Tupac Shakur and Halle Berry and routinely bringing in more than 15 million viewers during its first five seasons. Heading into the back half of the 2020s, A Different World sequel is reportedly in the works. However, there is no word as to when it will make its way to Netflix.
