The Academy Awards are back for a 93rd time and this year promises to be extremely exciting. Led by films like Nomadland, Minari and Trial of the Chicago 7, there is a lot of competition at the top for “Best Picture,” “Best Director” and a number of other prestigious awards. One category that is hotly contested is “Best Original Song.” Leslie Odom Jr., H.E.R and a few others could all win the award. Joining the hard-fought awards race, Celeste puts forth “Hear My Voice” from Trial of the Chicago 7. Celebrating this great piece of music, the California native performed her song during the ceremony’s pre-award show.
“Hear my voice! Hear my dreams! Let us make a world in which I believe,” she sang.
“You may think I won’t be heard. Still, I’ll raise this hand. Spread this word. These words of fire. Of hope and desire and I’ll let them free.”
With the performance under her belt, Celeste will wait patiently along with the other nominees until the “Best Original Song” winner is named. The main ceremony is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. ET. There is no host this year, but presenters include Halle Berry, Zendaya, Brad Pitt and Angela Bassett.
