A lot can happen in less than 24 hours.
Just before the 2024 Golden Globe Awards were set to celebrate the year’s best feature films and television series, 21 Savage seemingly teased the release of a visual and audio project of his own. The Atlanta-based artist shared a photo of him sitting alongside Donald “Childish Gambino” Glover and Caleb McLaughlin. Right below the trio, the graphic centered what appears to be the project’s title — American Dream: The 21 Savage Story.
At first, the Grammy Award-winning act only offered a set of emoji eyes as a description of what the graphic represented. However, the world would quickly get to learn more as the chart-topping artist shared a trailer for the project less than 24 hours later. McLaughlin and Glover took turns playing the role of 21 Savage as he navigates growing up in Atlanta and becoming one of the most prominent artists in Hip-Hop today.
Not to be overlooked, a new 21 Savage song plays in the background as the story unfolds. Rapping over a soulfully laced beat, he rhythmically recounts all that he overcame from his youth to being the subject of an ICE operation year ago.
At the moment, fans and critics alike are seemingly unsure of what format the project will be released. Multiple outlets have indicated that the project is a film set to be released in theaters later this year. Meanwhile, 21 Savage has hinted at releasing a new album for the better part of the last 60 days. In the description of the trailer, a message reads, “Pre-save and pre-order music inspired by the film at: http://AmericanDream21savage.com.” While we wait for more, check out the cinematic trailer below.
