The Jets and Giants will not be the only teams to take the field at MetLife Stadium in September. For the second year, Toyota will host its annual HBCU New York Classic at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. This September, the Morehouse College Maroon Tigers will return to play the Albany State University Golden Rams.
“We are thrilled by the fan support and excitement around the HBCU New York Classic. Football fans, alumni, and students come out to enjoy the action on the field and the unique experience and camaraderie of the world’s largest HBCU Homecoming,” Sports Eleven05 CEO Albert Williams told Ebony Magazine.
“MetLife Stadium is the perfect venue for this one-of-a-kind event.”
In addition to the big game, the 2023 HBCU New York Classic will feature a battle of the bands. There will also be a halftime celebration of Hip-Hop’s 50th anniversary with a number of surprise guests. Not to be forgotten, the HBCU New York Classic has been a vehicle to award deserving students with scholarship opportunities. Last year, Google awarded offered financial assistance to more than 100 students through its HBCU Tools for Schools Foundation.
