Today three things happened. 1. Nike set the sneaker twitter community on fire with a tweet to Michael J Fox. 2. Michael J Fox responded. 3. The 2016 Nike Mag has been given its own landing page on Nike SNKRS. What does all this mean? Well the sneaker of the future which was first introduced in the past but in the future (you follow me?) is officially on its way. Now this isn’t the first time we have expected or anticipated the Nike Mag release as it has done so before in the past. The only difference is the self-powering laces are a reality.

Now even thought these have a placement on Nike SNKRS doesn’t mean they’ll be necessarily released to the general public like a regular sneaker release. If the plans continue the same way they have in the past for this release of the Nike Mag expect for a charity auction. This is to take place October 4, 2016. The auction is for Michael J Fox’s foundation for Parkinson’s research. So with that said, if you want a pair prepare to get your check books ready.

UPDATE: Today October 4, 2016 Nike SNKRS updated the landing page for the 2016 Nike Mag. Behold the release details for the upcoming release which is actually not an auction but more so a raffle release method.

In partnership with the Michael J. Fox Foundation (MJFF), Nike will provide everyone an opportunity through The Draw to win one of the only pairs of the adaptive-lacing Nike Mag. In total, there are fewer than 100 pairs available. Each ticket costs $10, and there is no limit to the number of tickets you can buy. Most importantly, 100% of the proceeds will go to the MJFF to help find a cure for Parkinson’s disease.
