In just 79 games, Zion Williamson has scored 2000 points. He is the fastest to reach this mark since Michael Jordan. In just his second season, Williamson has been just as impressive as everyone thought he would be when drafted No.1 overall in the 2019 NBA Draft.
This season, he has averaged 27 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 3.6 assists. Williamson earned NBA All-Star status this season due to his elevated play, and some injuries. This season his effective field goal percentage is 62.2%, and his physical dominance is something to behold. Watch him jump out of the gym on this play against the Knicks last week.

This isn’t the only history that Zion has made this season. As he leads the Pelicans in his sophomore season, Williamson became only the second player in the shot clock era to score 20+ points on 50%+ shooting in 20 straight games in the same season. That is a lot of words for a stat, but that kind of consistency is ridiculous.
Just don’t let him gather, it is going to be a bad time if he gathers.
Zion Williamson joins Shaq as the only players in the shot clock era to score 20+ points on 50%+ shooting in 20 straight games in a single season ?

Zion has the Pelicans fighting for a play-in spot. NOLA is currently 11th in the west and will need to reach the 10th seed to make the tournament. However, with the elevated play of Steph Curry in the month of April, the Warriors have pulled ahead by 4.5 games in 10th. The Spurs in 9th are just half a game ahead of the Warriors.
It will be an uphill battle for the Pelicans and Zion to make the postseason this year. However, if they are able to hold onto Lonzo Ball this offseason in free agency, they have some momentum going their way for next year. There is exciting basketball in New Orleans, which is good for everyone, the next step in Zion’s career is to take the team who drafted him to the Playoffs.
