New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson underwent successful surgery on Tuesday with no major surprises. The initial diagnosis of the injury after surgery was two to four weeks, but the Jets have no plans to rush back their young starting quarterback. Until he returns to 100 percent he will not return to the starting lineup. With Wilson sidelined, the plan is for veteran quarterback Joe Flacco to start for the team. It is expected he will start the team’s season opener against his former team, the Baltimore Ravens. The current plan is for Wilson to return when healthy this season.
BREAKING: Zach Wilson’s arthroscopic knee surgery was deemed a success, source tells ESPN. There were no surprises from the original diagnosis. They won’t put him on the field until he’s 100%, but good news for the Jets . #Jets

Last season as a rookie with the New York Jets, Zach Wilson completed 213 passes for 2,334 yards, nine touchdowns, and 11 interceptions on 383 attempts. He also rushed the ball 29 times for 185 yards and four touchdowns. Overall not the ideal first season, but with a beefed-up team and a full offseason the hope is he can bounce back in his second season. This injury is hopefully only a minor setback to that plan.
With Zach Wilson’s knee surgery today now considered a success and with the team not willing to bring him back until he’s fully ready, Jets’ QB Joe Flacco is in line to start the regular-season opener vs. his former Ravens team.

When Zach Wilson first went down with his injury the initial fear was he had torn his ACL. After an MRI the team learned the injury was far less damaging to the young quarterback’s knee. With surgery completed now all Wilson needs to do is focus on recovering. We here at Def Pen Sports hope to see the quick return to the field for the young New York Jets quarterback.
