Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder will put their heavyweight titles on the line for a third time on October 3, 2020. The fight currently does not have a set location.
Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the third fight was set to take place on July 18, 2020 at the MGM Grand. Things were pushed back when the virus infected thousands across the country leaving Nevada’s Athletic Commission no option but to postpone the bout.
Earlier this week, Top Rank Chairman Bob Arum said the fight would “clearly not” take place on its previously scheduled date. “We don’t even know if the MGM will even be open by then,” he added.
Wilder and Fury’s third fight is not the only fight to be impacted by this pandemic. Vasily Lomachenko and Teofimo Lopez were rumored to step in to the ring during Memorial Day Weekend. However, that now seems like a dream more than a reality. Further out, Anthony Joshua is set to defend his title at the O2 Arena in June. There’s no word on whether that fight will take place as scheduled.
