Surprises are always welcome and Westside Gunn’s latest project, Peace Fly God, is no exception. Over the holiday weekend, the Griselda recording artist revealed that he would be delivering a new project on July 8.
“I’m back in the states and the homies pulled right up on me. Now, the tape is complete,” Westside Gunn wrote in an Instagram post.
“[I don’t give a f*ck] about [mixing] or [mastering]. I wanna keep that sh*t grimey [as f*ck], so I’m dropping [it] this [Friday]. F*ck it! This [is] not the album. This [is an] art piece before Michelle Records.”
Fortunately, Westside Gunn held his end of the bargain. Alongside new projects from Brent Faiyaz and Burna Boy, Westside Gunn added to the conversation with a new project. As Westside Gunn made sure to point out, Peace Fly God is not an album. However, the quality of the music meets that of his previous album. With production from Don Carrera, Madlib, Daringer and Conductor Williams, the mixtape includes contributions from Stovegod Cooks and Estee Nack.
