Consensus first round draft prospect Corey Davis will miss the 2017 NFL Scouting Combine as he undergoes ankle surgery. ESPN’s Adam Schefter first reported the news.
Corey Davis underwent minor ankle surgery, won’t run at combine, will be ready for rookie minicamp. Injury described “as extremely minor.”

Davis and Clemson wide out Mike Williams are expected to battle for the first wide receiver drafted. With Davis missing the combine, Williams will get a leg up on that battle. With Davis missing the combine, it is likely that he may fall into the 2nd round or even maybe 3rd round range.
In 2016, Davis recorded 97 receptions for 1,500 yards and 19 touchdowns. The Western Michigan product is regarded as an excellent route runner especially for his 6’3″ frame. The last well-regarded receiver from Western Michigan was Greg Jennings who was taken in the 3rd round by the Packers. I think it’s safe to say that turned out pretty well.
