As many health officials have predicted, the number of new COVID-19 cases and COVID-19 related hospitalizations has spiked within the last two weeks. Just yesterday, the United States reportedly endured a record-high 1.3 million new COVID-19 cases. Not long thereafter, media outlets began reporting that the United States has endured a record high 145,000 COVID-19 hospitalizations within the last day. In response, a number of government officials have taken action to address the ongoing pandemic. Most notably, Maryland Governor Larry Hogan put his state under a 30-day emergency period.
“The truth is that the next four to six weeks will be the most challenging of the entire pandemic,” Hogan wrote in a press statement.
“All of the emergency actions we are taking today are to keep our hospitals from overflowing, to keep our kids in school, and to keep Maryland open for business, and we will continue to take whatever actions are necessary in the very difficult days and weeks ahead.”
After learning of this recent development, Grammy-nominated artist Wale made the decision to not only postpone his upcoming concert in Silver Spring, but he also pushed back the first six dates of his “Under A Blue Moon” tour.
“After Maryland Governor [Larry Hogan] declared state of emergency, we just tried to play it cool and be respectful,” Wale’s agent tweeted in response to one fan.
“We only postponed the first 6 shows,” he replied to another fan.
As a result, Wale’s highly-anticipated tour will kick-off in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on January 23 instead of January 12 at Nashville’s Marathon Music Works. The string of postponed datas will begin in Raleigh on March 4, 2022. Fittingly, he will end the tour in Silver Spring, Maryland on March 11, 2022.
