It is no secret that the Denver Broncos have been searching for their next franchise quarterback since Peyton Manning retired. Denver has tried Paxton Lynch, Trevor Siemian, and Brock Osweiler but none of them have given the Broncos the stability they desire. Broncos linebacker Von Miller believes he knows the man for the job; Kirk Cousins.

While on the Dan Patrick Show, Miller said:
“I’ve talked to him before. He knows exactly how I feel … and what he would mean to our team, and what he would mean to a lot of teams.”
The thought of Cousins going to Denver comes on the heels of a trade sending Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith to the Washington Redskins. The trade, as well as the massive four-year extension given to Smith by the Redskins, assured everyone that Cousins will be moving on this offseason.
Cousins has been the starting quarterback for the Redskins since 2015. He started some in 2013 and 2014 but beat out Robert Griffen III for the starting role that year. Cousins threw for 4,093 yards and 27 touchdowns this season.
The Broncos will be weighing their options in the coming months, and they have a good number of options. The Broncos hold the number 5 pick in the upcoming NFL draft. Some believe that the Broncos will opt to take a quarterback with that pick. Broncos staff have paid close attention to Oklahoma’s Baker Mayfield and Wyoming’s Josh Allen.
The idea of pairing Cousins with Denver’s defense is intriguing. If the Broncos decided to sign Cousins, it could open the way for them to draft a high caliber player at another position, or trade the pick to acquire more assets. The only thing to do now is to wait and see what happens.
