Damian Lillard has been on a mission the entire season. However, since being seemingly snubbed from the All-Star game, the Portland Trail Blazers’ point guard has been on another level, entirely. Lillard has been lighting the league on fire with some monstrous performances since the All-Star break.
On Friday, the point guard continued his dominance with another 50 point performance against the Toronto Raptors. Lillard shot 16-28 on the night, including 6-13 from three, while adding five assists and three rebounds. Dame continued his hot shooting until the end of the game, hitting big shots to keep the Blazers in the game until the very end. Alas, it was just too little for the Blazers as the Raptors were ultimately able to edge out the win at home by two points.
Lillard’s phenomenal play has been among the biggest factors for the surprising success Portland has enjoyed. The Blazers are now 33-29, sitting in seventh place in the Western Conference. With Dame leading the way, they have a shot of avoiding the Warriors and Spurs in the first round, which would be a great development for a high-potential, young team not expected to win much this season.
Damian Lillard, however, is not interested in expectations.
