The Denver Broncos will have a familiar face on the sidelines next season after naming Vance Joesph as their next defensive coordinator. Joesph was last the defensive coordinator for the Arizona Cardinals, but before that was the Head Coach of the Denver Broncos. Before Sean Payton accepted the job as the Head Coach of the Broncos, it was rumored he was tabbing Joesph as his desired defensive coordinator. It was unclear if he would be interested in returning to Denver. Denver also considered Rex Ryan and Matt Patricia for the job.
Former Broncos’ head coach Vance Joseph is returning to Denver as the team’s new defensive coordinator, as @PSchrags also reported. He will run the Broncos defense for HC Sean Payton.

In just two seasons as the Head Coach of the Denver Broncos, Vance Joesph led the team to an overall record of 11-21. The team did not make the NFL Playoffs in those two seasons. Offensively the team did not find a rhythm under Joesph, but the defense was a solid unit in his tenure. As the defensive coordinator of the Arizona Cardinals, Joseph had the unit looked much better as a unit with a consistent scheme.
Denver is looking to right the franchise after going all in last offseason when they traded for quarterback Russell Wilson. With Sean Payton as the Head Coach and Vance Joseph as the defensive coordinator, the coaching should be far more consistent next season. Denver has the players for a top defensive unit and they were last season. Joseph should be able to continue that success while Payton figures out how to fix the offensive side of the ball. Later in his career, Joesph could look to land another job as a Head Coach.
