Psych is coming back to the small screen in a big way. According to Variety, USA Network greenlit a sequel to the 2017 TV movie, Psych: The Movie. The beloved series ran for eight seasons from 2006-2014. Production on the new movie will begin sometime in March. James Roday, Dulé Hill, Maggie Lawson, Kirsten Nelson, Corbin Bernsen, and Tim Omundson will return to reprise their roles.
The new film will follow the gang as they are brought back together when Santa Barbra Police Chief Carlton Lassiter is attacked on the job. In the hospital, Lassiter starts to see strange and impossible things happening around him so Shawn and Gus try to uncover what’s wrong. However, the two come home to find they are unwelcome in their old town and must solve this mystery without anything but each other and their wits. As they unravel the truth, they will uncover things that will change their lives forever.
Series creator Steve Franks is directing the new film. He co-wrote the script with Roday and Andy Berman. Franks, Hill, and Roday are also serving as executive producers on the project alongside Thruline Entertainment’ Chris Henze.
The untitled Psych movie has yet to receive a release date.
