Twenty-four of the top high school basketball players from around the world will come together this weekend for the 10th annual Under Armour Elite 24. The iconic showcase will take place on Saturday August 22 at the beautiful Brooklyn Bridge Park Pier 2 and will air live on ESPNU at 7PM.
The big game isn’t the only thing the Elite 24 has to offer this weekend. Under Armour has teamed up with the NBA to host a Junior NBA Clinic for the Brooklyn youth, which will begin at 5PM on Friday evening, and will be coached by NBA guests as well as the twenty-four talented high school players selected to the Elite 24 roster. Immediately following the game will be the always entertaining three-point and dunk contests at 7PM. Friday’s festivities are sure to be a hit with young basketball fans so if you’re interested in attending be sure to arrive early as seats go fast!
“When this game was created 10 years ago, the idea was to give high school basketball players an opportunity to experience the energy and spirit of authentic playground basketball,” said Kris Stone, Elite 24 founder and director of basketball sports marketing at Under Armour. “The people who helped bring Elite 24 to life, the players who have gone on to college and the NBA, and the fans who come out and show their passion for the game every year all share in its continued legacy and contribution to the culture of basketball.”
As expected, the 2015 roster is stacked with top ranked talent as these players will face off trying to make a name for themselves just like their predecessors did before them. 54 players from the Elite 24 games have went on to be selected in the first round of the NBA draft and four were drafted No. 1 overall. If you happen to live in New York you should definitely stop by and check out the games in person or tune into ESPNU on saturday night. Either way, Def Pen will have coverage throughout the weekend so stay tuned!
