The NFL Playoffs are right around the corner. In a year where nothing seems to be going right, the playoffs will come (knock on wood) more or less on time. The National Football League has put out quite the product this season and if the Ravens vs. Browns game is any indication, the Playoffs should be an electrifying event. Sure, it is always fun to watch the games. American gladiators, the best teams battling it out. Of course, it is always much more fun to bet on the games. There are all types of bets you can make on the NFL Playoffs! So why don’t we look at some of the more fun categories?
Pre Playoff Bets
You can bet on the Playoffs before they even start. One of the most popular bets every year comes from future bets on who will win the Super Bowl. Everyone likes to place these bets at the beginning of the season usually, but these odds are updated throughout the season. The main reason why these bets are so popular comes from the fact that they are very lucrative. The earlier you place your wager in the season, generally, the better return on investment if your bet lands. The reason being, things aren’t as clear early in the season. Sportsbooks don’t know who the best teams are truly going to be until they hit the field.
Money Lines and Spreads
There is always the tried and true way to bet on sports; lines and spreads. Money lines are bets that just involve picking the winner. Sometimes money lines give you good odds, but you will have to know how to pick your underdogs. Spreads are projections made on how many points the favored team is expected to win by. In the NFL you usually get spreads between 7-14.5 points. Teams are more close in talent in the NFL, but every now and then you will see a larger point spread. These are the usual ways sports bettors place wagers on games. So, of course you can bet this way on the NFL Playoffs.
Prop Bets
These are the most fun bets to make during the Playoffs. Prop bets can be any miscellaneous bet from, ‘What color will Lady Gaga’s hair be during the halftime show?’ to ‘Will a player drink Pepsi on TV after the game?’. These bets are largely unpredictable but can be really fun to get into. There are prop bets on who will score the first touchdown in a game, which QB will throw for more yards, and many more subjects.
The NFL Playoffs will be here before we know it! The Wild Card slots are being sought by many teams as the top contenders start to look to rest up before the long postseason ahead. The MVP race is still up in the air for all intents and purposes and there are many more bets to be made. With the COVID-19 vaccine being distributed throughout the nation and the world now, hopefully, there won’t be any more delays due to the virus.
